More information

A trip to Paris would not be complete without a visit to the ever-iconic Eiffel Tower. Over 130 years old and 330 metres (1080 feet) high, the iron structure was highly criticised when it was first built but has now become one of the most beloved and visited monuments on the planet.

Why visit the Eiffel Tower?

Seen as the symbol of Paris, the Eiffel Tower is the French capital's main attraction. Whether you marvel at the tower from a boat the Seine River, enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant or participate in a photo shoot, the Eiffel Tower should be a part of any Paris travel itinerary. If you choose to climb the tower, you'll enjoy unbeatable views of the Arc de Triomphe, the Grand Palais, the Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame and the Champ-de-Mars.

Did you know...

The Eiffel Tower was originally built as a temporary structure. Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the structure was constructed for the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889 to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution. Despite some controversy, due to its popularity and function as a radio antenna, the Eiffel Tower became a permanent monument.

Before you visit

In order to avoid crowds, book your visit to the tower online in advance of your visit. We recommend planning your visit for early in the morning or late in the afternoon. However, despite larger crowds, visiting the Eiffel Tower at night makes for a special experience!
